Why did you choose Northumbria School of Design, and what did you know about us before you applied?

I didn’t have any prior knowledge but wanted to study Animation and really liked the Design building when I went for my interview.

What do you most like about Newcastle, and how do you find the city?

The city centre has lots of good shops and entertainment and the nightlife is very lively.

Did you find the Design School welcoming? 

Yes, it is very welcoming and is an inspirational place to study as so many types of Design courses are taught throughout the building.

How do you find your tutors and the staff within the School? 

The tutors are very helpful and encouraging.

What are the facilities like?

The school has all the facilities from computers to cameras and everything I need to create animations.

Tell me a bit about your course? 

I study Motion Graphics and Animation, which covers every facet of Animation from drawing to special effects.  The majority of the work is computer based.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date during your time with us?

The most valuable lessons would be, the importance of preparation and research to maximise the quality of your work.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Fun, Stressful, Eye-opening

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

If you have the passion, it is an exciting place to learn and you are given full freedom to express your creativity.

What are your plans now and for the future?

I enjoy so many areas of animation just anything in that field and I would be happy but I really want to work on kids’ television.

What skills would you say you have gained/improved since the start of your course?

The main skills I have improved on are working towards deadlines and my general outlook on Design and concepts.

What new knowledge of your subject area have you learnt so far on your course?

Each semester we are given different challenges from all areas of Animation.
