English Literature and Creative Writing BA (Hons)

What's it like to study at Northumbria?

It's a very good uni: lots of good societies and things to do, the library is great and the people are very friendly. The uni is in a good place as everything in Newcastle is so walkable and accessible.

Best thing about studying English Literature and Creative Writing

I get to study books I'm interested in and can write about my own stories I'm developing in my spare time.

Favourite thing to do on campus / community

I love meeting up with friends from my society, especially when there is an event in said society.

Course & career goals / industry links

I am still unsure about what career I want to go into, as I find most opportunities and big companies are further down the country, or in other cities.

A time you realised you were capable of more

In my first year once I had completed my foundation year and met one of my closest friends, I found I was able to push myself to go to events with new people and go out of my comfort zone with society events.

Support that boosted confidence / ambition

I have been able to talk to my friends about what we're doing after uni as well as get professional support from the Ask4Help team if my mental health is getting in the way, or for career help after uni.

Advice for someone considering Northumbria

It's in a great city as everything is walkable and easily accessible.
