What's it like to study at Northumbria?

Northumbria is such a great uni to study at. It's a good mixture between contact time such as lectures and seminars but you also get a good amount of time to work at your own pace outside of that. Northumbria has such a welcoming atmosphere and I love how close everything is on campus!

Best thing about studying Business and Marketing

The best thing about my Business and Marketing course is the wide variety of roles and topics we learn about. It has given me a better all-round understanding of the different sides to a business, and the opportunity to find what I enjoy the most.

Favourite thing to do on campus / community

I have been part of a few societies and sport clubs during my time at Northumbria. It's been really nice to have something to look forward to outside of studying and I have been able to make some really good friends through them. Another thing I love is Be Part of It. I have been able to take part in so many different events like kayaking along the River Tyne!

Course & career goals / industry links

With this course, I have been able to do both a study abroad semester and a placement year. These have been an invaluable experience that will help me achieve my career goals.

A time you realised you were capable of more

I was a bit nervous when I found out I had to do some finance modules in my course but it surprised me how well I did on them and how much I enjoyed it. It then led me to getting a placement in finance!

Support that boosted confidence / ambition

There have been multiple times in my course where we have been given the opportunity to work on some projects alongside some businesses and non-profits such as Beamish Museum and Jesmond Library. Coming up with marketing campaigns for these companies has been really helpful in building my confidence and being creative while staying within their means.

Advice for someone considering Northumbria

My advice would be to take the opportunities that are given to you and make the most of them, you never know what they might lead to!
