Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I had studied at Northumbria University previously (undergraduate) so I knew of the supportive learning environment and facilities that Northumbria richly provides.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

In my opinion, Newcastle upon Tyne and the Region is friendly, warm and welcoming.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

To my greatest surprise, Newcastle won me over and became my home away from home. You couldn't find anywhere better even if you wished to!

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming?  Was it easy to fit in?

Northumbria University is absolutely warm, friendly, supportive and welcoming.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The Library facilities and staff are second to none.  The must simply be the best!

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

Library staff and the 24 hour opening times.  This caters for all learners full time or part time students with varying commitments. You can study privately at times that suit you most day or night time

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

My pre-registration nursing lecturers inspired me to pursue my current career path in Nurse Education Practice following my MSc in Academic and professional learning at Northumbria University post qualifying.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Library at Coach Lane Campus, and the Clinical Skills Centre.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects?  Tells us about the highlights?

The Gym at Coach Lane Campus meets my needs and is reasonably affordable.

What is the best thing about your course?

As a nurse researcher, you are privileged and have somewhat more freedom to explore issues that are of real concern to the nursing workforce, our patients and their families

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

That if you can work hard and believe in your dreams, others may believe with you and support you to realise it.

What do you want to do in the future?  What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

To progress and advance my career in Nurse Education and Research upon graduation.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement?  What were your most memorable experiences?

I have extensive background in cardiology nursing and clinical research.  There has been lots of memorable experiences over the years especially supporting  pre-registration learners in clinical learning environments.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

If you are looking for an university that will provide you with a supportive learning environment in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, then choose Northumbria University Newcastle.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

My confidence has improved, as well as my self esteem, and I am eager to make a difference.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Inspired, supported and celebrated.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes!
