Each month, we will be compiling a selection of events for you here, so that you can keep track of things happening both on and off campus. From events in student accommodation and society socials to Northumbria University Sport fixtures and pop-up events on campus, we've got you covered!

Ouseburn Vintage Crawl

Location: Newcastle

If you have a soft spot for vintage items, you will not want to skip on this one. On Sunday 2nd April, you’ll be able to wander around some of your favourite Ouseburn spots like the Old Coal Yard, Cumberland Arms, Ernest or The Cluny, and explore other stalls by various vintage and vintage-inspired traders. Tyne and Queer LGBTIQA+ Acoustic Night

Location: Newcastle

Come along to the Mosaic Tap on 4th April for a night of live acoustic performances from Pink Poison, Natasha Graham, Jade Mia Broadhead and Alexx Munro. The event will start at 6pm and tickets are £3 and can be purchased here.

Tulp Festival

Location: Amsterdam

The Tulp Festival will take over Amsterdam this April with multiple locations across the city. Wander around the city’s streets, squares, parks and shopping centres to admire the gorgeous tulips, including a kilometre-long row of flowers on Stadhouderskade. Entry is free.

Battle of the Burger

Location: Newcastle

Wylam Brewery are preparing a two-day ‘burger bezerkathon’ on 7th and 8th of April running from 12pm until midnight. The event is set to be the biggest and best Battle of the Burger to date, where you will find amazing food vendors, a killer soundtrack and delicious vegan and vegetarian options. Entry is free.

Newcastle Vegan Market

Location: Newcastle

Head over the Grainger Market on 15th of April from 10:30am for some of the best vegan food and products in the toon! Expect vegan street food, artisan bakes, craft beer, ethical jewellery, soaps and much more! Entry is free. Click here to find out more.

Therapy Dogs

Location: Newcastle

Do you have a dog at home you have not seen in a while? Do you need a little boost of serotonin in your day? Do you need a break from your studies to unwind? Come along to the students union for a couple of hours of dog love! The fully trained therapy dogs come along for a couple of hours where they love a cuddle and a stroke. SicilyFEST

Location: London

Get a slice of the cuisine of the iconic Italian coastline without leaving London at this pop-up Sicilian market. Taking place on 20-23rd April at the Business Design Centre, you’ll find anything from gelato and pizzas to arancini and cannoli. Entry is free.

Vintage Kilo Sale at Durham Cathedral

Location: Newcastle

If you haven’t been to Durham Cathedral yet, this might be a great opportunity to tick that off your bucket list. This event will take place on 22nd of April at 10am and it will bring together sustainable, pre-loved fashion items. The clothes cost £20 per kilo, but there’s no minimum spend, so you can buy as much or as little as you’d like! Entry is £1.50 and you can get yours here.

Clothing Swapshop Featuring Dior Makeovers

Location: Newcastle

The SU is running a cost-of-living focused swapshop! Bring along your old clothing for others to give a new lease of life. We will be collecting items like t-shirts, shirts, jumpers, coats, skirts or jeans. The event will take place on 25th April at 1pm at Training Rooms 1 and 2. Dior will also be there with their directors chair to give free makeovers and skin care advice. Come along, grab some new threads and a fresh face of makeup! Slice Wars: The Rebel Base

Location: Newcastle

Calling all pizza Jedi's, the Slice Wars at Wylam Brewery is back! This free event will take place on 28th from 5pm and 29th of April from 12pm and will showcase the best pizza pushers in the region and beyond, by creating a level field, and inviting vendors to duke it out for the right to claim BEST in the galaxy. 

Canalway Cavalcade

Location: London

The Inland Waterways Association will host its annual canal boats gathering in Little Venice on 29th April-1st of May. Over 100 boats will be moored along the stretch of the Grand Union Canal between Blomfield Road, Warwick Avenue and Warwick Crescent, and there’ll also be trade stalls, street food and live music. Eid in the Square 2023

Location: London

This celebration of Eid-al-Fitr, which marks the end of fasting for Ramadan, will take over Trafalgar Square for a day of free activities and events. Starting at 12pm on 29th April, the event will feature live performances and international food stalls including Indian street food from Mr Bombay, silk road delights from Oshpaz Uzbek Street Food, Venezuelan fayre from Pabellon and Somali treats from Hooyo East. 

Knitting Club - Wooley Mammoth

Location: Newcastle

Come along the Star and Shadow Cinema on 30th April at 12pm for a free, drop-in, knitting club. You can just turn up. No need to book. Materials are provided but please bring your own if you have them. You can find more information here.
