Research & Enterprise Projects

Group’s Research and Enterprise projects are wide ranging however the most import project that we are involved in since 2008 is the Virtual City Models. The digital representations of cities can take many different forms and due to the advancements in the technologies and practices used for data acquisition, reconstruction and maintenance of these digital representations, Virtual City Models became one of the important tools for architects, urban planners, landscape architects and local authorities alike. 

 

Virtual Newcastle Gateshead

Virtual NewcastleGateshead (VNG) is a joint venture between Northumbria University, Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council to create a three-dimensional digital model of the urban core areas of both Newcastle and Gateshead.

A colabraiton between Sunderland City Council and Northumbria University to creata an interactive 3D City Model has started and the initial outcomes wil be available soon.
