The next steps will be running the food and beverage department and assisting to manage this department whilst its during its most busy time, during the football or any major events like Park Life and concerts.

What are you doing now?Sarah Green

I worked part time in the hospitality industry and I loved it! The path I am taking on Klarent graduate scheme will provide me with the skills to become higher management.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I love the city of Newcastle and I have a lot of family in the North East. When I came to the open day I fell in love more!

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

My course ran during COVID which was really difficult but the lectures were definitely engaging. As a small course there was still a lot of group projects which really helped me to connect with the other students.

How connected was your course with industry?

My course was a lot different to most, we had the opportunity to run business' while studying and using these business' as case studies. This really helped me gain the understanding of how much there is do while managing a project. We had a lot of EBM graduates come back and do talks about where they are now and gave any advice they wish they would've known.

If you took on a placement during your course how did you feel this helped you in your career/ with your studies?

What was the best thing about your course?

The best thing about EBM was definitely the networking time we had. We were able to build connections with real business owners and other students in likeminded positions.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

Studying at Northumbria has helped my career as I have better social skills. I can confidently talk to people that I do not know. I was allowed to fail and still feel supported, in the real world I feel confident that even if something doesn't work the first time, learn from it and try again until it achieves the goal you want.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

I would 100% say my confidence skills. I can pitch and present to a group of people, whether that is senior people in the company, new clients or the staff in the hotel without coming across scared. This will always stick with me and I can thank Northumbria University for that.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

I was given freedom. Freedom to learn and become an adult with that support in place.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

DO IT! The city, the people, the nightlife, the lectures are so worth choosing Northumbria for!

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

Unbelievable, creative and supportive.
