Pay Gap Reporting 2024

Northumbria pay gap 2024 reporting pages which include information on gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+ and intersectionality.

Introduction from Professor Andy Long, Northumbria University's Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive

Northumbria is a progressive, dynamic and innovative institution driven by our exceptional people. At the heart of our Strategy 2030 is our aim to promote fairness in a community where all staff and students feel they belong.

We are proud of our diverse workforce and our commitment is to eliminate median pay gaps related to gender, ethnicity, and disability by 2030. We recognise that achieving this goal requires continuous effort and transparency and these web pages aim to share more information on each pay gap, including tracking year-on-year progress, detailing the actions we have taken and plan to take, and provide a place where we can update regularly on our progress.

Our 2024 data shows that our median gender and disability pay gaps have remained relatively static in comparison to 2023, although our mean gender and ethnicity gaps have reduced sightly.

In this, our 2024 Pay Gap Report, we are again extending our analysis, reporting on our LGBTQ+ pay gap, along with gender, ethnicity, disability and considerations on intersectionality; and looking in more detail by Faculty / Department, age and length of service related to gender pay. We recognise that narrowing pay gaps with the ambition of elimination is not quick or easy and requires meaningful, consistent and sustained changes in practice and cultural norms, and this additional analysis provides us with a more comprehensive understanding of the disparities that exist and helps us to develop more targeted actions to achieve our ambitious aim.
