Jowan Barnes

Research Fellow

Department: Geography and Environmental Sciences

I recently completed my PhD with Newcastle University and the National Oceanography Centre, modelling the effects of geothermal heating on the abyssal ocean, with a particular interest in hydrothermal vent systems as a source of heat at the seabed.

I am now turning my mathematical modelling experience towards investigating Antarctica as a postdoctoral research fellow attached to the PROPHET project, part of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration.
