Sue Knight

HLS_Northumbria -University -Staff _Sue -KnightShe is an experienced primary school teacher, having taught in a variety of local authorities and settings both in the UK and abroad.

In 2008, Sue joined the local authority School  Improvement Service in Northumberland as a literacy consultant. She supported schools across the region and led initiatives on the Every Child a Writer (ECaW) and Every Child a Reader ( ECaR) programmes. Sue was also strategic lead for moderation for the county.

From 2010, Sue trained as a Teacher Leader for the Reading Recovery intervention programme, whilst studying for a Master’s degree in Literacy Learning and Literacy Difficulties at the Institute of Education, London.  She also gained qualifications to become an accredited trainer for Boosting Reading @ Primary (BR@P), Fischer Family Trust Wave 3 and Talking Partners intervention programmes. Early literacy interventions continue to be of particular interest to Sue.

Most recently, Sue had a senior leadership role in an outstanding Northumberland First school.
