Cycle Tours with Newcastle City Council
Newcastle City Council run a range of free cycle training opportunities delivered by Bikeability instructors and open to anyone who lives, studies or works in Newcastle. Contact yvette.dungworth@newcastle.gov.uk to find out more.
Dr Bike & Bike Servicing
We hold monthly free Dr Bike sessions (delivered by the WATBike) where qualified mechanics carry out safety-checks and service you bike.
Dr Bike provide free bicycle health checks, basic maintenance works and 'bike prescriptions' for more complex repairs. City Campus sessions take place between 10:00 to 15:00 inside the glass atrium at the entrance to Ellison A (adjacent to the rotating glass doors). Dates below:

Along with the usual repair service, we are now able to offer drop-in workshop sessions during these monthly visits where staff and students can come along and learn simple repairs and maintenance tips etc.
Cycle pumps and bike maintenance kits
You can access cycle pumps in the secure staff cycle stores on campus should your tyres be a bit deflated, and bike maintenance kits can be borrowed from the Security Offices at both City and Coach Lane campuses.
Cycle Tagging
Regular cycle tagging events enable you to have your bike security tagged for free thanks to the University's Security team and the local police. You can also pick up a free cycle lock.
Can’t wait for the next session? Visit the Security Office at the rear of the Trinity Building and they will be able to support you.

Keep up to date with additional events, updates and news by joining the Bicycle User email list. Email Paul.Steadman@northumbria.ac.uk to subscribe.
Cycle Parking
We have over 1,000 cycle parking space at the University. Visit the sustainable campus map to view cycle parking locations on both campuses.
We also have a number of lockable cycle stores on campus.
The student cycle store is located near Northumberland Building and is available for use by Northumbria students only.
To gain access to the store, please email paul.steadman@northumbria.ac.uk to join our Bicycle User email list. The code for the gate combination lock will be emailed to you.
The code is changed regularly, with the new code sent to the email address you provide.
To find where you can park your bike at a Metro or bus station please use the following link. You’ll find information about the number, type and location of cycle racks.
Folding cycles are allowed on the Metro, further information is available on the Metro website.
Staff Cycle to Work Scheme
Members of staff can save hundreds of pounds on the cost of a new bike and accessories with the Staff Cycle to Work Scheme, plus get extra discounts in a number of local cycle shops.
