Active Research - RINNO H2020

Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future: Secure, clean and energy-efficient.

RINNO is a Horizon 2020 project that aims to transform energy efficiency in European building stock through technology-enabled deep energy renovation. The project involve 17 partners from across the EU who together bring innovations across building systems, technologies for managing information and collaboration, and business models in renovation projects. The project strives to dramatically accelerate the rate of deep renovation in the EU by reducing the time, effort and cost of deep renovation while improving energy performance and stakeholder satisfaction.

Some of the innovations included in RINNO include: Plug & play technologies (such as modular building envelope solutions; renewable energy solution, hybrid and storage solutions) for low tenants’ disruption; efficient (off/on-site) construction strategies, on-the-job Augmented Reality facilitating environment and multi-stakeholder collaboration, sensored construction sites, smart contracts, and interoperable cloud based collaboration platform. RINNO innovative approach will be demonstrated at 4 large scale (3,386 m²) pilot site across different EU climatic zones and markets with diverse maturity in the renovation sector.

Project partners: RINA-C, F-FLEX, Motivian, Centre for Research and Technology - Hellas, Pink, European Green Cities, Avedøre Boligselskab, CIRCE Foundation, NAPE, Regenera, Bouygues Construction, Ekolab, Northumbria University, DCU Business School, Hellenic Passive House Institute, VTT, Greenstruct
