A device for collecting an exhaled breath condensate (EBC) in
controlled conditions to enable it to be used with diagnostic markers for
disease detection and monitoring.
This device, through its design, resolves
the current contamination, sample loss, variability, and cost problems with EBC
collection. The device is small, simple to use and compatible with chemical and
biological molecule analysers including Next Generation Sequencers; suitable for
lung disease research and diagnostics applications (human and animal). There
are other applications for this technology including drug detection (legal or
illicit), biosecurity applications for international authorities in seeking to
detect and contain respiratory infectious disease (example MERS, SARS, H5N1
flu, and anthrax) and environmental monitoring. There are a number of pending and
granted National Phase patents covering this technology.
