Funded PhD Studentships at Northumbria University

Northumbria University is a research-intensive modern university with a global reputation for academic excellence.

Northumbria is ranked in the top 25 Universities in the UK for 'Research Power' in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021, and was named 'Best University in the UK' in the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards 2022.

As part of our continued commitment to research excellence, the University is offering up to 100 funded PhD studentships, commencing from October 2024. These opportunities are open to exceptional applicants worldwide, and include funding from organisations such as the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC), Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

The University advertises many of its studentships around late November/early December, however we advise checking all-year round as studentships are often available at any given point in the year.
