Research in Allied Health Professions and Nursing is organised into two major areas - Cellular & Molecular Sciences and Health & Lifestyle.

Cellular & Molecular Sciences researchers contribute applied science research that bring healthcare benefits and extend understanding of disease processes. Work in this area is organised into three groups:

  • Applied Chemistry Group
  • Mammalian Cell Biology & Immunology Group
  • Microbiology Group


Health & Lifestyle researchers examine areas of health and social care related to the management of ageing and long term conditions, as well as user involvement, the promotion of health and the reduction of inequality. Work in this area is organised into three groups:

  • Clinical Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Group
  • Health Interventions and Wellbeing Research Group
  • Nursing & Public Health Group
