Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence

Meet our staffComputer Vision and Artificial Intelligence is a rapidly expanding research group to develop various tools and techniques for modelling, analysing, mining, understanding and visualising data. The group is headed by Prof. Ling Shao.

Some of these tools, techniques and applications are as follows: computer vision, image processing, video analysis, information retrieval, multimedia, medical informatics, bioinformatics, intelligent games, virtual character, visualisation, animation, serious games, human-computer interaction, optimisation, machine learning and pattern recognition, evolutionary computation, fuzzy systems, data mining, classification, knowledge discovery, natural language processing, decision support systems, and mobile applications.     

Group members are also involved in research linked teaching, seminar and innovation activities. The team is also actively involved in various professional activities (for example, organised workshops with ICCV and ACM Multimedia, organised a conference in China 2012, delivered invited talks in a number of countries, served as editors for international journals, involved in EU external cooperation projects as a project leader/partner, etc.) to develop collaborative research and academic programmes.
