Our Guarantee

We want to continue to make sure that you are in control of your accommodation booking. Our guarantees to you are here to make our position clear, to answer any questions you have and to give you the confidence you need to secure your accommodation booking for the 2020/21 academic year.

As the world keeps changing, we have your back.

OUR GUARANTEES

  • If you book accommodation for September 2020 but are unable to attend the University due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, we will refund the full advance rent payment.
  • If you don’t get a Visa to study in the UK, or if your pre-sessional English course is cancelled, we will cancel your booking at your request.
  • Not accepted? No worries. If you do not meet the requirements of your course offer with Northumbria, we will refund your advance rent payment, less a £50 early termination fee.
  • Flexible payments: Apart from the £250 advance rent, there are no other upfront costs. Rent payments are split into three instalments which fall in line with the dates of your maintenance loan payments. Other payment options are available.*
  • Northumbria community. Book a room with us and we guarantee you'll be living exclusively with other Northumbria students.

Our accommodation team remains available to guide you through the booking process (contact us), and our on site teams are working hard to ensure that our buildings are as safe for you at this time as they have always been. We look forward to welcoming you in September.

International Arrivals

We understand that the UK Government’s current policy on 14 day quarantine restrictions for all international arrivals in to the UK is causing uncertainty for our international friends who wish to start at Northumbria in the coming year. The UK Government policy on this may well change, however should it remain in place through to the end of August, we are making the following offer which we hope will provide you with assurance that you are very much welcome at Northumbria and within our accommodation and also ensure that you are not financially disadvantaged by these quarantine requirements.

For full year international students, our standard 43 week tenancy agreement commences on 17th September 2020. The University will honour an additional 14-days free accommodation immediately prior to the commencement date of the tenancy agreement in the same residence.  This is on the understanding that the student agrees, and honours a full 43-week tenancy agreement (or 39 weeks in Claude Gibb).  The student will remain liable for any costs related to damage of the property within the 14-day period.

For part year (Semester 1 or Semester 2) international students, the same offer will apply, albeit with a commitment to a shorter tenancy length.  We understand that many of these course requirements vary, and therefore should the quarantine arrangements remain in place, we will work with individual students on a ‘case-by-case’ basis.
