Facilities

Northumbria Law School is based in City Campus East, located on a modern state-of-the-art £70 million development in central Newcastle. The development was officially opened in 2008 in a ceremony which marked one of the most significant developments in the history of Northumbria University.

The development has now amassed 20 awards and continues to be enthusiastically received by both students and staff.

Thumb Law StageThe ground floor contains our largest Harvard style lecture theatres, accommodating up to 400 people. As well as this, we have a break out area which can be transformed into a thriving exhibition space. Our café area offers a wide range of catering options from restaurant style food, to our deli, and even a Starbucks.

In addition to this, our ground floor is where our Student Engagement Centre can be found, which is designed to enhance the student learning experience and career prospects. It does this by promoting all types of experiential learning, including volunteering, internships, placements, overseas study and business and law clinics, all of which have a very positive impact upon student employability.

Thumb LoungeAs well as teaching and seminar rooms, the first floor includes a computer cluster as well as a specialist Law Practice Library which contains practitioner materials, journals and law reports.

The building also houses the School’s internationally renowned and Queen’s Award winning Student Law Office, whereby law students participate in a legal advice and representation scheme on behalf of clients as part of their academic and professional development. The service is run as a full legal service just like any other firm of solicitors. Practising lawyers closely supervise the students' work and have overall responsibility for ensuring that clients receive a professional service.

On the third floor, we have a specially designed courtroom equipped with DVD recording, enabling students to gain Thumb Law Books Peoplereal-life exposure to what they can expect to experience in a courtroom scenario. This allows students to develop their practical advocacy skills and stage mock trials.

We would love to welcome you to Northumbria Law School and show you these fantastic facilities. If you’d like to visit us, please get in touch.
