Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?
Northumbria University was superior out of my choices through the wide range of courses on offer as well as the different projects and campaigns which help students with applications, placement years and jobs whist at University, as well as in the future within your career.
What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?
Newcastle is a very friendly city with lots to do, see and enjoy! I personally enjoy watching Newcastle United play at St James' Park, shopping in town and socialising with friends around the city.
What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?
How friendly everyone is! Everyone in and around the city are such warm people willing to help out in any situation. Also the proximity of everywhere in Newcastle is perfect for students. Newcastle's development as a city has increased massively with new shopping facilities all around the city.
Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?
Within hours of being at Northumbria I knew it was the University for me as everyone was so welcoming and passionate about the course, University and city.
What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?
The number of different people I have met.
Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?
Lecturers and tutors are very easy going and friendly whist having specific advice, tips and help on all things University.
Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?
Old students who have come back and talked about how Northumbria guided them on the right pathway for a great career.
What is your favourite place on campus?
The Business School! It has everything I need in order to achieve the best possible grade.
Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?
I am part of the Student Ambassador team which I undertake with passion in order to promote the University as much as I can. I have also joined the football team which I play in every week with also having the interest to play rugby in the future.
What is the best thing about your course?
The great facilities that are specific to my course. The Bloomberg terminals help myself and the rest of my lecture group to have first hand experience whilst learning theory along side.
What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?
To treat everyone as you would want to be treated.
What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?
Become an Investment Banker. I have developed skills using the Bloomberg terminals in order to gain experience and processes before using in a professional environment.
Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?
I have undertaken a course with the option in third year for a placement, which I look forward to greatly.
Have you taken up any opportunities to travel with your current course/undertake field trips? If so, please tell us about them.
Yes, we visited London in order to see the Bank of England, London Metal Exchange and the Bloomberg offices. These gave me a real insight in the sort of field I would be wanting to enter. I learned a lot on the way in which these organisations are run and I have managed to further my interest in becoming a trader or an Investment Banker after visiting these.
