What's it like to study at Northumbria?

I find studying at Northumbria really rewarding as I get to work closely with lecturers who are specialists in their subject. My lecturers are all very keen on debate in seminars and also enjoy imparting their own knowledge in these group discussions.

Best thing about studying English Literature

The best thing about my course is the varied reading list. I get to expand my reading beyond what I have previously studied at GCSE and A-level. I enjoy being confident in applying theory to my essays and linking these closely to certain texts.

Favourite thing to do on campus / community

I enjoy sitting in the library as there is a wide variety of online resources as well as physical.

Course & career goals / industry links

My course will help me in my journey to becoming an English teacher.

A time you realised you were capable of more

The first time I got 70% or more on an assignment. I felt proud of what I had accomplished as I have a bad habit of doubting my capabilities.

Support that boosted confidence / ambition

The NSU always have various events going on throughout the year that I enjoy taking part in.

Advice for someone considering Northumbria

I would advise them to participate in everything they can, from Freshers' Week to the Freshers' Fair, to societies, to attending all of the lectures and seminars.
