Computer Network Technology

Computer-Network-Technology_Student_Kabir-HarunaWhat's your background?

I did my Bachelor’s degree in IT at the American University in Dubai, and then worked back in Nigeria at the Corporate Affairs Commission. I worked in the IT department in networking.

Can you give an example of a piece of work you’ve been involved with recently and what it involves?

The department encourages you to explore other areas of technology, like telecoms. For my dissertation topic I’m researching issues concerning the “last mile”, which is the quality of service which is actually delivered to the end user of a telecoms system.

What would you like to do when you graduate?

I’ll go back to my job in Nigeria. I can see myself coming back to the UK to do a PhD in a couple of years. I’d consider Northumbria first because I’m familiar with the environment and the teachers, but I’ll explore other options too.
