Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I heard about the option to do a four years course in Law and graduate with a Masters degree and gain practical experience in the field of law as well, it really seemed appealing to me.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I really love the nightlife in Newcastle and the fact that its really safe as well, you can take a walk along the quayside at anytime of the night and still feel  safe while enjoying the serene view.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

The cost of living in newcastle is relatively moderate, transportation, housing etc are quite moderate compared to other cities.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

I believe Northumbria University was welcoming, I came to the UK on my own for the first time and was worried as to how I was to find my way to the University, but the meet and greet team were extremely welcoming and they took me from the airport to my University accommodation and they also helped me to fit in, as they took me shopping for items for my daily living, they also took me on a tour of the town, that was really welcoming.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

I have really enjoyed the learning experience and getting to meet people from different walks of life and different countries. I have been exposed to diverse cultures and this is one of the things i really have enjoyed most about this university.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

I would say the library staff has helped me the most, I'm mostly in the library and when ever I have a problem or I have to be connected to the IT help team, it's the library staff at the reception 24/7 that always help me. So I must say, they help me the most.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

I have really been inspired by those in the years above me in my course in this University. When I speak to them, they put me through things I am not quite sure about, also when I attend some of their mooting activities and other activities related to my course and i see them in action, I get more inspired about what I want to do, also the lectures in my department inspire me evenly whenever  listen to them speak about their personal experience.

What is your favourite place on campus?

My favourite place on campus is the Law school's first floor Hub. I just really like the place and the colours.

What is the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course is the practical experience, through activities like mooting and debates, we get to learn about things that are not ordinarily taught in class.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

I have learnt that not everyone understands about cultural differences, it's up to you to portray your culture as best as you can to enable others to understand it, and also respect for other people's culture is vital.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I would like to be a practicing lawyer in future and I believe my course is directing me to be a good one.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Northumbria University is the place to be, you would not want to miss out on a whole range of lovely activities that this University provides alongside a wonderful learning experience and a world class degree to top that as well.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I believe I'm more confident of who I am by meeting people, I have become more outspoken than I was before I came here.
