Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Because Newcastle is my home city, I know the places, people and lifestyle and wanted to peruse my midwifery career in familiar surroundings.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is fab it's so vibrant and outgoing. My favourite things to do are strolling along the quayside and nights out in the city centre with friends.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

It's like home from home as everyone is in the same boat and same career goals. I loved the easy going nature of the staff and students.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The lifelong friends I've made and the exciting learning opportunities we have both at uni and in clinical practice.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

The lecturers as their wealth of experience and knowledge never ceases to Amaze and inspire me.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Students union as you can enjoy a cuppa and a gossip inbetween lectures.

What is the best thing about your course?

The sheer reward you get from actually practicing as a midwife.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Always be organised and plan everything well.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to work in a birth centre and facilitate normal childbirth as we have been provided with the skills and knowledge to enhance this.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Don't let the competition stir your decision, apply, apply , apply it took me 4 attempts but the gratification you get once there is the best feeling ever.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

My confidence had improved massively, my knowledge and professionalism and my self belief of being able to implement my learning into practice.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Exciting, life-changing and challenging.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Definitely.
