Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Friendly people, enjoyed my interview, found the interviewers very friendly, warm and welcoming.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is amazing, I could not have picked a better city to study my nursing. I have enjoyed all my nursing placements and have gained alot of experience from different wards. I have loved the city for its various restaurants and bars and entertainment, there is always something fun to do in Newcastle. I love venturing around town shopping and going for food and drinks with my friends, especially down at the quayside, which is beautiful when the sun is out.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How friendly and welcoming people are to you as a student.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes, I had amazing flatmates in halls, I get on with everyone in my university class, so easy to fit in as we are all in the same boat.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Learning experiences within my mental health placements and gaining true friendships. There has been alot of adventures here for me.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Some of the lecturers in university have been very enthusiastic about mental health nursing and that has inspired me.

What is the best thing about your course?

Being on different mental health ward enviornments, which has helped me gain confidence and knowledge.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

To rely on myself and be independant.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Be a qualified mental health nurse, I am confident with communication to others and have confidence in communicating support to patients. This will help when qualified.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

I have enjoyed all of my mental health nursing placements.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Pick a course you are really interested on and just go for it.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have grown up alot more, I can cook better meals and I am very independant. I know what I want from life now.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Adventure, fun, positive

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes!
