Where are you from?

Romania.

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Because it offered a course option that I preferred and multiple opportunities outside of the course such as the work placement.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I absolutely adore Newcastle as it is not too big of a city, yet it has everything a student and a young adult could hope for. Also the surrounding towns and landscapes are extremely beautiful. I love taking photos and exploring the nearby areas, along with the architecture of Newcastle

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How easy is to travel anywhere I need to and how secure the city is. I can walk at night and not feel threatened. Another good impression has come from the night life of the city. Such a wide variety and cheap as well for students.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes! Very easy to fit in. I felt at home within a week.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Experiencing a foreign country lifestyle along with the course that provided me with new knowledge and opened even more doors for me.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My parents. They have been wonderful in supporting me and my choices.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

I think Emma Anderson, Rob Davis, and Matthew Pointon three of my course tutors. They have taught me the basics of what I know and encouraged me to continue growing.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Students' Union. I spend a lot of time running from building to building and the Union is placed right in the middle. I have also came regularly due to working directly with Volunteer Northumbria.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I have been part of Volunteer Northumbria, as a Resources Coordinator and participated in several volunteer projects along with helping organize them. I have also spent a lot of time within the Japanese Anime and Culture society (also known as JAC-DAN).

What is the best thing about your course?

It teaches a little bit of everything, from marketing to developing to art.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Never give up, never say never and grow strong.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I would love to work either in web design or new media marketing.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

Yes, I am expecting to start my placement on the 28th of July.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Give it a go. The experience is wonderful and you wont regret it!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have came out of my shell, I am more confident in myself and less shy. Also I am not afraid to speak my mind any more.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Fun, studious, challenging.

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?

Yes.
