Esosa Oliha

Esosa -Oliha _Student _MSc -Business Information -Systems -Management (1)Where are you from?

Nigeria.

Why did you choose the course?

I already had a technical background in IT and wanted more of a business perspective because my career goal is to go into IT management.

What’s your favourite thing about university?

The architecture and also the tutors are very relatable.

What did you like most about the programme?

I had to do a lot of presentations which really helped build my confidence and public speaking skills. I also had to do a lot of team work which helped me get to know my coursemates better. The diversity of my coursemates from different cultures and various parts of the world made it more interesting.

What are you doing now?

I am rounding up my Masters and looking forward to getting a job. However, I have become more interested in doing a PhD at some point in the future.

Do you have any advice for anyone applying for the course?

Be certain of what you want to accomplish. Though it’s an IT course it deals with IT from more of a business perspective. So don’t expect to do any programming or have practical classes in software-related areas. Also, it helps if you know a thing or two about academic writing and research. I had to learn it myself when I got here. It’s easy when you get the hang of it, but the initial phases of learning are tough. Do assignments on time, you have to be studious from day one. Feel free to talk with tutors about any issues you might have with the course.
