Where are you from?

Grantham, Lincolnshire

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

The Law degree offered at the University definitely attracted me.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love Newcastle, the city is amazing and the nightlife is incredible. I enjoy doing the Newcastle Stampede, a charity run, each year. We get a group of friends going, it's great fun and it's for a great cause.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How everything is within walking distance. You don't need a car to get around. Even if you don't want to walk, you have the Metro service.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Definitely. When I first came up it was so easy to meet people and make friends. The Welcome Team were so friendly.

The Law School building; not only is it a great piece of architecture, but inside it's modern and a great workplace.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? Tells us about the highlights?

I am a member of the Athletics Team and have the University record for Javelin. I have competed at BUCS for the past two years and it has been an amazing experience, especially when we were in the Olympic stadium in the first year.

What is the best thing about your course?

The Student Law Office is definitely something that makes my course special. I'm looking forward to getting into the SLO next year.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Stay positive even through the hard times.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Once I've graduated I hope to undertake a training contract and complete my training to qualify as a solicitor.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

As I have been on the Grey (Law) Society committee for the past two years, we do work closely with local firms. We offer some amazing networking opportunities and the firms up here are so helpful.

Make the most of everything the University offers. Get involved with societies and get out there.
