Where are you from?

Northumberland

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I chose Northumbria because of it's reputation and proximity.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is a vibrant city with sine thing for everyone... It's home... Northumberland is on the outskirts and has the most amazing coastline and countryside... So you can be partying one day then having a quiet stroll the next.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

I've lived here my entire life and still come across new things to try.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

As a mature student I thought I'd feel past it! However this was not the case... A friendly cohort who look out for each other is what I found instead!

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The atmosphere and vibrancy of learning again... I had put off returning to education and wish I had done it earlier.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

Peers - we are there for one another!

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

The service users who visit to provide their perspectives, their stories and their experience provide the most inspiration...

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

You never stop learning!

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I'm applying for jobs as a Social Worker working with Children - my final placement has given me so much experience, yet there's still much to learn... Keeping up with research is fundamental!

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

Yes, placement... Invaluable / too many to mention! The colleagues, the children, the families... All unforgettable!

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Do it! Don't wait like I did... However if you're a mature student looking to return like I was - you won't regret it! It's been a blast!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I have learned so much... I'm happy that I followed my dreams to gain the qualifications needed to get my dream job!

Fleeting, unforgettable, informative
