Lizzie Unwin

MA Multidisciplinary Innovation

ADSS_Lizzie -Unwin _Student _MDI-MSc (1)What appealed to you about Northumbria and studying in Newcastle?

Newcastle is the perfect size, not too big as to feel overwhelming, and not too small that you feel you have seen and done everything in your first year. At the time of applying, Northumbria was one of the up-and-coming places for design, and now I think it is one of the best in the country.

What did you like most about the course?

The variety, from the people to the projects themselves. It always keeps you on your toes and allows you to build upon a wide range of skills. Working alongside others from different disciplines allowed you to recognise your strengths and weaknesses. You can then build upon your weaknessess with help from the others within the group.

How did your undergraduate degree prepare you for your current post?

I learnt that subtlety is often the best way forward with ideas. Big and brash have a time and a place, however, for me, the smaller details are more important. If you get those right, then the rest will fall into place. I have been able to apply this philosophy to many of the projects that I have undertaken this year.

What are you doing now?

I am reaching the end of the Masters and have planned to do more studying with a three month graphics course in New York.
