Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams

Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams offer assessment and home treatment for people over 16 experiencing a mental health crisis.  This support is offered as an alternative to hospital admission. 

Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams are available nation-wide and you can find the contact details of your local team by searching online for 'Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team', (please include the area where you live within the search).

Emergency Departments

If you feel that your life is in imminent danger then go to the Emergency Department at your nearest hospital - it might help to ask someone to accompany you. At the hospital, you will be able to speak to a mental health professional who will be able to help. You can find your nearest emergency department here.

Northumbria University Security

If you are on campus or live in one of the University's halls of residence you can call Security on 0191 227 3200 (available 24 hours a day).  In an emergency, it is usually easier to call Security than 999, as they will be able to co-ordinate with the emergency services on your behalf.

If you are in one of the University's halls of residence, your House Manager will also be able to help.

Samaritans and other sources of help

If you would like to speak to someone about how you are feeling, you can call the Samaritans on 116 123 (available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year).  Many of the Samaritans' branches are also open to visitors, so you can to speak to someone in person.  You can find the details of your nearest Samaritans' branch here

You may search for a counsellor that works with insurance companies. Please note that not all practitioners in the Netherlands work with insurance companies.
