What is UCAS Clearing, Confirmation and Adjustment?

UCAS' Clearing and Adjustment services allow you to alter your plans in the later stages of the university application process, based on whether or not you have met the conditions of your firm choice offer. Confirmation is an automatic process carried out by universities when you meet your firm or insurance choice.

This section will give you all the essential UCAS Clearing advice and information you need to get prepared for results day 2016 whether you're a student or parent.

Where can I find the UCAS Clearing list?

You will be able to find university Clearing lists on the UCAS website and in the national media, as well as on university and college websites. You can search for a Clearing course using Northumbria's 2016 Clearing list by clicking the button below. Scottish Highers students will be able to find UCAS Clearing vacancies in Scotland, published in the media on Tuesday 9 August 2016. Students who have taken A Levels will find Clearing vacancies in the press from Thursday 18 August 2016

Whichever source you use to find your Clearing place, if you would like to study at Northumbria, you will need to call our Clearing Helpline on +44 (0)800 085 1085 to speak to one of our friendly advisors who will assist you. If you have already received your results, you can call us now.

How can I prepare for Clearing?

UCAS Clearing doesn't need to be daunting. Thousands of students enter UK universities through Clearing each year - and it can turn out to be a really positive and stress-free experience. The best way to prepare for the university Clearing process is to read sections such as this to arm yourself with knowledge and to think about what other courses and institutions you might be interested in, if you do enter the UCAS Clearing process on results day.

How will I know if my place at Northumbria is confirmed?

Confirmation is an automatic process and you'll be able to see if we have confirmed your place by checking UCAS Track. You don't need to call us on the day of your results - you can get on with celebrating!

What do I need to do about accommodation and finance?

If you join Northumbria University through UCAS Clearing or Adjustment then it's the start of a really exciting journey - you're coming to live in the UK's best student city! But before you start all the fun stuff -like planning what you want to pack - you'll need to secure accommodation with us and let the student finance company know of your changes. But once you've done that, enjoy the tips our students have for you about that packing...

Can I apply to Northumbria University through Adjustment?

UCAS Adjustment is a service that will become available to you if you meet and exceed the conditions of your firm choice offer on results day 2016. This gives you the opportunity to 'adjust' your choice of course or institution if you like. Would you like to join Northumbria University? Good choice!
