Understanding Intellectual Property (IP) and its relevance in collaborative research and development

Hugh Rhodes (RBS – Northumbria University)

Dan Mercer is an IP Attorney based in Newcastle.  He has experience of patenting in the electronics and engineering sector.  Dan will introduce the different types of IP focussing on the patenting process but covering all forms of intellectual property.  

Hugh Rhodes will discuss Northumbria University’s IP policy and approach to the protection and commercialisation of IP.  He will also give examples of solutions that have been adopted by the University to address IP issues in collaborative research and development.
