Northumbria University recognises the mutual benefits for Faculties to build strong relationships with external individuals and organisations for the purposes of research, professional development and knowledge transfer. Individuals who hold Visiting Titles can make a contribution through research, teaching and learning, enterprise and/or undertaking an advisory role. Conferment of Visiting Professor and Visiting Fellow titles are determined by the University Visiting Titles Committee.

Law	The Right Hon Lady Justice Black DBE, Head of International Family Justice for England and Wales Lady Justice Black was appointed a Lady Justice of Appeal on 15 June 2010 and is the Head of International Family Justice in England and Wales. The appointment follows a distinguished career within our judiciary acknowledged by recognition as Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. The Visiting Professorship within the Faculty of Business and Law at Northumbria University incorporates provision of a significant public lecture as part of the Eldon Lecture series.
Law	Professor Andrew Rennison Professor Andrew Rennison’s distinguished career includes acting as Chief Forensic Science Regulator from 2008-2014,and subsequently at the Criminal Law Review Commission. His engagement contributes significantly to all aspects of the global impact of our distinguished Centre for Evidence and Criminal Justice Studies, including leading international conferences, world-leading research outputs and extended stakeholder partnerships.
Law	Professor Beryl Blaustone Professor Beryl Blaustone is a Clinical Professor at City University New York and her work closely integrates with the international perspectives and engagement of our Queen’s Anniversary prize-winning Student Law Office. Professor Blaustone has a world-leading reputation and extensive background in workplace regulation including personnel issues, federal and state anti-discrimination requirements in employment and workplace disability. Her background also includes labour law practices, workplace benefits, public employee representation and service as a Commissioner of Columbia Human Rights Commission.
Corporate and Executive Development	Professor Roy Sandbach Professor Roy Sandbach is a globally recognised expert on innovation who leads the innovation strategy for the North East Local Enterprise Partnership(LEP).Professor Sandbach has led world-leading innovation and manufacture of global brands at Procter and Gamble and supports a range of local organisations in the North East, including business ambassador for NETpark, the North East Technology Park in County Durham and design champion for Design Network North. He has contributed significantly to the Faculty as External Advisory Board Member for NBS, with the provision of specialist lectures on Innovation and via appointments panel membership.
Applied Sciences	Professor John Perry Professor John Perry has been a significant collaborator with the Department of Applied Sciences for many years resulting the substantive income and impact through the Biomerieux collaboration and sponsorship for doctoral research studentships. John has facilitated collaborative research in cystic fibrosis and preterm infants. The collaboration with Professor Steve Cummings has resulted in eight peer reviewed outputs and John was returned REF2014 as a category C member of staff.
Psychology	Professor Ray Novaco Professor Ray Novaco has visited Newcastle to collaborate with Professor John Taylor on their shared programme of clinical research involving people with intellectual disabilities and mental health and behavioural problems. In addition to work on live research data bases for analyses and publication purposes, Professor Novaco has provided expert external support and supervision to the clinical research programmes being run at Northgate Hospital under Professor Taylor’s direction.
Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation	Professor Simon Evetts Professor Simon Evetts has continued to promote the activities of Faculty staff globally in the field of post space flight rehabilitation, working with Dr Nick Caplan and Dr Dorothee Debuse. This has involved supporting Northumbria in securing research funding from the European Space Agency in the field of LBP pelvic muscle function. Simon has also supported Faculty staff in engaging with the development of the UK Space Life and Biological Sciences Association (UK Space LABS).
Geography	Professor Matti Sepala Matti Seppala is a leading perioglacial scientist and Professor in Physical Geography from the University of Helsinki. His research interests include cold environment geomorphology, geomorphological mapping, cartography, climamorphology, aerial photo-interpretation, permafrost studies and Aeolian processes. Matti is a fellow of the Arctic Institute of North America and of the Geological Association of Canada and is actively involved in a number of international organisations relating to polar research. He has travelled widely in order to conduct numerous Arctic field campaigns and to collaborate with colleagues around the world. Professor Seppala supported the REF 5 document for UoA17 Geography, Environmental Studies and Archaeology. During his visits to Northumbria, Matti has participated in Undergraduate teaching and given staff seminars. He was heavily involved in Arctic fieldwork in September 2015 and has produced publications plans for co-authored output.
Physical and Electrical Engineering	Dr. James Yu Working at Scottish Power as a Transmission Innovation Manager, James Yu’s area of expertise is in power energy, more specifically the area of renewable energy. Carrying out collaborative research with our staff in renewable energy, James has an active role with both undergraduate and postgraduate students providing opportunities to carry out work which has an impact externally. Other notable activities include : preparation and coordination of the submission for BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering articulation programme providing on campus support for existing students to progress to Master studies delivery of EN0711-Wind Energy Conversion Systems at MSc level, providing students with the latest industrial standards and the UK strategy giving four lectures on Matlab simulation and its application on power system analysis providing industry related topics for final year students, and supervising BEng (Hons) students identifying suitable employment for MSc Electrical Power Engineering students in the UK utilities industry providing three introductory sessions to the power engineering pathway of the Electrical BEng(Hons) programme to international students during induction weeks working with the International Office to facilitate the VC's visit to China for the 110 year celebrations at Nanjing Normal University
Architecture and Built Environment	Barry Gilbertson Barry Gilbertson is a leading figure in the property world. As a former President of the RICS, adviser to the Bank of England and Property Partner at PWC he retains a high profile which is consistent with the University’s vision. As an active visiting professor, Barry has visited Northumbria University on an annual basis giving a lecture to staff, students and the local profession. He helps maintain and raise our profile with the profession both locally and nationally. He is committed to helping enhance the employability of our graduates. His central London location and long term association benefits our London campus vision. Providing support to students undertaking research for dissertations, Barry also facilitates field study visits to London for both undergraduate and post graduate students and has been working to introduce a mentoring scheme for Real Estate students at Northumbria.
English	Dr. Michelle Faubert Dr. Faubert’s main Northumbria-based activities have been as a member of the ‘Fashionable Diseases’ Leverhulme Project team. She has given three presentations at Northumbria and elsewhere with or on behalf of the team, and has participated in conference planning (July 2014) and planning for forthcoming publications (2015 and after). She also contributed to a collection of essays edited by a member of the Northumbria History group, and has led on an external funding bid in collaboration with a member of the English group/Fashionable Diseases Project team. Participation in future project publications is ongoing.
History	Daniel Jackson (Strategic Commissioning Leader at North Tyneside Council) Daniel Jackson is a co-organizer of the World War I public lecture series (with Dr. James McConnel, Reader in History). This involved eight lectures by leading scholars in the field and attracted, on average, 150 people at each event. In addition to his work on the successful public lecture series, he has been consulted on regular basis on History’s UG plans around employability.
Media and Communications	Peter Dillon Peter Dillon delivered the 4th Graduand Initiate Flim Making Programme, May 2014 to March 2015 and is currently leading for May 2105 -March 2106, joint teams of graduands, undergraduates, tutors and local professionals. As a Visiting Enterprise Fellow, Peter’s continuing leadership of Initiative contributes significantly to employability and entrepreneurship for Media Production graduates.
Design	Professor Kristina Höök Kristina Hook collaborates with Professor Gilbert Cockton on Strong Concepts as a basis for Design Knowledge, with a hosted visit at KTH in April 2014 and a return visit from Professor Höök in 2015.
