Dr Melanie Zhang

Dr. Fangchen (Melanie) Zhang, PhD, FHEA, is an Assistant Professor in Real Estate. Melanie's research specialises in real estate investment, financial stability, and urban economics. Her research explores international real estate investment strategies and financial market networks. The recent works explore the urban economic impacts of evolving flexible working and consumption patterns.

Melanie has published in international, high-ranking journals such as Regional Studies and the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and has led industry-collaborative research projects, including the IPF Research Grant in 2021. Her work has been presented at several international conferences in real estate, finance and urban economics, including AREUEA, ARES, ERES, AsRES, and BAFA. In addition to her research, Melanie actively contributes to the academic community through journal peer reviews, conference chairing and seminar organisation.

Melanie has also been guest-teaching at the University of Manchester and the London School of Economics and Political Science Summer School.
