Santander, through Santander Universities, works to encourage the international exchange, to facilitate access to university, to promote specialist research and education through scholarships and grants.
What are Santander mobility grants?
The 10 mobility grants are awards up to the value of £1000 for students. They aim to encourage collaborations with institutions in the Santander Universities Network.
Students can do a range of projects including study exchange, lab placements or research at one of our partner institutions in Latin America.
Grants are used to pay for travel and accommodation of outbound visits.
Which universities can I visit?
The grant covers research collaboration with universities that are part of the Santander Universities network only in the following partner universities;

What costs can this grant cover?
The grant is to cover travel or subsistence for the traveller. There is no length requirement and the additional costs must be covered by personal funding.
What are the requirements?
Applications are open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from Northumbria University.
Students must be from a WP background as per the following list:
low participation neighbourhoods
mature students
black, Asian and minority ethnic students
Low income backgrounds
Disabled students
Care-leavers
Carers
Estranged students
Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
Female students into STEM State school students (from schools with below average attainment)
Commuter students
Children from military families
First generation students
Deadlines
The deadlines to apply are:
Academic year 2024-25- 1 April 2024.
Undergraduate students will take part in the Ambassador Programme representing Northumbria during their time on exchange.
Postgraduate and research students will be required to submit a short impact report within four weeks of their return and be part of the Northumbria University international research network.
Applicants should demonstrate how the visit will benefit their research/education and in turn how this will benefit others at Northumbria and the partner university. Applicants should also highlight how they will further strengthen and support the development of a strong partnership in the country of destination.

The International Mobility Team will provide the information and links to all participants who have been accepted onto a study or research programme in Latin America.

Current students should submit an enquiry via the 'Help and Support' section of your Student Portal. You are current student if you have recently enrolled or have been sent an email about enrolment. To access your Student Portal you will need to have enrolled on your programme first.
