What's On Newcastle: Christmas Round Up

Out and about

We know that December can be a particularly busy time for our students. But luckily Newcastle is a city full of ways to help you get in to the Christmas spirit before you head home for a well-earned break.

We’ve named just a few!

The Muppets Christmas Carol at Tyneside Cinema: 9th,15th & 24th December

Take a lead from the spirit of Christmas Present and kick back and relax with a screening of 'The Muppets Christmas Carol'.Tyneside Cinema bring you the classic Dickensian tale of Ebenezer Scrooge played by Michael Caine alongside Jim Henson’s lovable cast of muppets. Tickets are only £5.

If talking puppets are not your thing you can take your pick of other Christmas favourites showing at Tyneside cinema including 'home alone','It’s a Wonderful Life' and (we know this is a controversial one); 'Die Hard'.

The Stand Christmas Special: 10-15th December

You can add an extra level of Christmas cheer to the season with a visit to The Stand Comedy Club this December. Their slide splitting Christmas special runs from Monday 10th to Saturday 15th so there are plenty of opportunities to get a date in the diary. Comedians include, Tom Stade, Mike Milligan, Zoe, Deage Paxton and the evening is hosted by Matt Reed. Why not make a night of it and dine out at their delicious bistro?

Tickets are £12 per person and can be purchased here.

'A Christmas Carol' reading at The Lit and Phil: 14th December

Nothing embodies the season of good tidings more than a traditional story told by candlelight. We can’t promise the candle lit part but we can promise an amazing experience at The Lit and Phil Library. On Friday the 14th audiences will gather amongst the book shelves to hear a reading of A Christmas Carol read by Gerald Dickens, actor and great, great Grandson of the author himself. There is a twist in the tradition tale, with the reading based on Gerald’s own adaptation of the classic, with each of Dickens' original character’s brought to life thanks to Gerald’s acting talents.

Busy Backpack Eating Club: 20th December

We understand that this time of year can be hard to spend time away from family and friends, especially for our international students. That is why we love the Busy Backpack Eating Club and their aim to bring “people together to enjoy food, culture and dialogue.” For only ten pound you can meet new people and make new friends over the dinner table this Christmas. Food will be served at the Tyneside Irish Centre from 6pm. Book now to take your place at the table on November 20th.

Snow Ball at The Life Centre: 21st December

Still in Newcastle for the 21st of December? Why not make your way down to The Life Centre for their Snow Ball. Dress to impress as you will be taking a walk down the red carpet and met with a complimentary glass of bucks fizz before you sit down for a three course meal. After dinner you can dance your socks off until midnight during the resident DJ set. Tickets are £37.00 per person.
