Read all the important information

It is important that you read all information regarding your offer to ensure that you understand your offer and your responsibilities.

  • Please read your Offer Letter in full and ensure you are aware of any action that are required.
  • Please read the University’s Terms and Conditions of your offer which can be found here.
  • Please read Student Visa Responsibilities if you intend to apply for a Student Visa.

Ensure your details are all up to date

  • The University must hold up to date contact details for you at all times, including a personal email address and up to date home/contact addresses.
  • Should any of your details change during the process of your application, you must notify us immediately via the Applicant Portal or by email.
  • If you change your passport, you should provide an updated copy as soon as possible.

Accepting your Conditional Offer (Conditional Offer holders only)

If you wish to accept your Conditional Offer, please do so via the Applicant Portal. Details on how to access your Applicant Portal have been sent to you separately via email. Please contact us if you are unable to locate these and we can resend them via email.

By accepting your offer, you are confirming that you intend to study at Northumbria University and that you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the offer.

Provide evidence you have met the conditions (Conditional Offer holders only)

Please ensure you provide us with relevant evidence to demonstrate that you have met the conditions set out your Offer Letter as soon as possible. You can do this by uploading the required evidence to the Applicant Portal. Examples of evidence that we would expect to see uploaded are outlined in your Conditional Offer Letter e.g.:

  • US High School Graduation Diploma
  • ACT or SAT scores
  • Advanced Placement tests

Once your conditions have been met, we will be able to provide you with an Unconditional Offer.

Accepting your Unconditional Offer

If you have received an Unconditional Offer and wish to accept it, you can do so via the Applicant Portal. By accepting the offer, you are confirming that you intend to study at Northumbria University and that you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the offer.

Compliance with additional requirements (if applicable)

If your offer indication you have any non-academic conditions you must also meet these before we can issue you a CAS. Any non-academic conditions will be listed in your Offer Letter and may include:

  • Under 18 declarations
  • Interview
  • Proof of non-academic qualifications

Pay your Deposit (if applicable)

If you are required to be a deposit it will be indicated in your Offer Letter.

You should pay your deposit as soon as possible to secure your place and allow enough time for payments to clear, and for the University to release your CAS that is required for you to apply for your visa.

The preferred and quickest way to pay is online via our payment platform.

For alternative methods please visit the ‘paying your fees’ pages of your Applicant Portal. If you are paying via bank transfer, then you must include your full name and Student ID in the reference. Where possible, we advise paying your deposit in one single payment.

Please note that you may pay your deposit whether your offer is Unconditional or Conditional. Please read the deposit and refund sections of the terms and conditions prior to making any payment.

US Federal Loan recipients (if applicable)

If you are receiving US Federal Loans to fund your studies, then you may be exempt from paying part or all of your deposit. You may only commit 50% of your total loan amount toward your deposit and therefore the following applies:

  • If you are borrowing at least the $USD equivalent of £33,500 via US Federal Loan funding, this will be payable direct to the University and exempt you from any deposit requirement.
  • If you are borrowing less than the $USD equivalent of £33,500, 50% of this will be payable direct to the University to cover part of your deposit contribution. You will be required to pay the remaining balance to ensure you satisfy the £16,750 deposit requirement.

The University can help inform you if and how much contribution you will be required to pay to ensure that you satisfy the deposit requirement needed to release your CAS. More information of Federal Loans and paying your deposit can be found here.

Request a Confirmation of Acceptance for studies (CAS) - (Student Visa applicants)

Before you apply for a CAS, you must have an Unconditional offer from us. We cannot guarantee to process CAS requests which are submitted late in the cycle in time for your visa application. To request your CAS, please do so via your Applicant Portal. The University must receive your deposit and all relevant documents below before we can issue a CAS:

  • Completed acceptance via Applicant Portal
  • Proof of deposit payment and/or secured loans
  • A copy of the personal details page of your passport that you will be using for your visa application
  • A copy of any previous and current UK visas (issued for the purpose of study)
  • Evidence that you have met the conditions of the offer
  • Under 18 letter (if applicable)

Applying for your Student Visa

Once we have issued your CAS you can apply for your entry visa. It may take several weeks for your visa to be processed so please allow sufficient time for this to be carried out. You must not travel to the UK without a valid visa. Provide other immigration permissions

If you are not studying on a Student Visa, you must provide evidence of your permission to study in the UK. This may include:

  • An alternative visa that allows study
  • A stamp in your passport
  • A passport that allows you to study in the UK

Complete Self Registration and attend On Campus Enrolment

  • All international students must complete our electronic self-registration process before they can enrol. Information on this process can be found here.
  • You will be sent details of how to complete these activities near to the start of your course
