What will I learn on this module?
Through the analysis and examination of digital forensic case studies, you will develop a critical appreciation of the legal and regulatory aspects of a digital forensic investigation. You will also apply the theory and skills derived from the relevant taught modules on this programme to an advanced level by undertaking a detailed digital forensics investigation. You will develop analytical and evaluative skills in the appropriate use of digital forensic tools for solving problems in a variety of environments and situations
How will I learn on this module?
You will have the opportunity to analyse and examine digital forensic case studies using the latest industry-standard specialist digital forensic software, giving you invaluable hands-on practical experience. Topics will be introduced in lectures and discussed through seminar activities and guided learning activities. The theoretical material on digital forensic investigations and the relevant legal aspects will be introduced through critical analysis and discussion of relevant case studies in seminar sessions. You will be encouraged to adopt an independent learning style, acquiring, and applying knowledge through your research by a series of guided activities and exercises.
How will I be supported academically on this module?
Lecturers and tutors will offer you guidance on studying and what they expect of you. Feedback will be via your classroom-based sessions, however further informal feedback can be arranged. You can access several University resources and guidance for example, how to study effectively, write assignments, revise for your exams and avoid plagiarism.

2. Critically evaluate the role of the expert witness and the challenges faced by expert witnesses.
3. Communicate and present investigative findings both written and verbal in such a way that they meet the appropriate standards.

How will I be assessed?
Summative assessment will be a single piece of coursework which assesses all the Module Learning Outcomes.
You will undertake a detailed digital forensic investigation of given digital evidence and presenting your findings in a report.
Formative feedback is provided throughout seminar sessions.
