What's it like to study at Northumbria?

Northumbria is a great place to study for students. There are lots of different facilities and opportunities for students to use whilst at Northumbria. They have good support systems in place also.

Best thing about studying Occupational Therapy

The best thing about my course is the placement opportunities provided to us. It provides a real insight into occupational therapy practice and what it will be like to work as an occupational therapist.

Favourite thing to do on campus / community

I enjoy spending time with colleagues on my course on campus which allows me to feel part of a community.

Course & career goals / industry links

The course will help me achieve my career goals as I can register as an occupational therapist once I have completed my degree which will allow me to begin working. My course has lots of links to the industry including placements in each year to gain hands on experience.

A time you realised you were capable of more

When I have been on placements during my course I have realised that I am more competent and have developed knowledge and skills I didn't realise I had.

Support that boosted confidence / ambition

Northumbria have allowed me to become a student representative for my cohort group. This has allowed me to grow in confidence as I have had to provide feedback from the students to the academic team and work alongside the students in my cohort. The opportunity of placements at Northumbria has helped me to grow in confidence as an occupational therapy student.

Advice for someone considering Northumbria

The advice I would give to someone who is considering studying at Northumbria is to ensure that it is the right place for them to study and to achieve their goals and ambitions. I would highly recommend Northumbria to continue onto higher studies.
