Newcastle upon Tyne
Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?
I chose Northumbria University for my Bachelor Honours Degree in Leadership and Management through other colleagues strong recommendations and positive experiences. The standard of lectures at Northumbria have more than exceeded my expectations and feel I have gained a wealth of knowledge in the eight months to date.
What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?
Newcastle is a fun and vibrant city providing diverse opportunities for individuals to socialise and make new life-long friends. I particularly enjoy the range of restaurants and tasting food from different cultures.
What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?
I am surprised mostly by the ease of accessibility around the city and the friendly welcoming nature of those already living there.
Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?
The University is more than welcoming with staff who are always there at hand to help. I've found the experience thoroughly enjoyable.
What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?
I surprisingly enjoyed the lectures because they were delivered so well. I found myself learning so much more through the lecturers ability to make the subject interesting, relating matters to real life scenarios.
Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?
Aside from the lecturers, I have to thank the course administrator, Amanda Hilling, who has been of great assistance throughout my time at Northumbria from fees to the submission of assignments.
Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?
The lecturer who has inspired me the most is Guy Brown. Very charismatic and has the ability to make the lectures both interesting and fun. I believe these are the perfect foundations for education.
What is your favourite place on campus?
Being part time, I spend little time on campus, however I did find the canteen - where I had the opportunity to chat to others from the lecture - a great benefit.
What is the best thing about your course?
I believe the best aspect about my course is that it has provided me with great confidence within this subject as well as my self in being able to make suitable decisions within my personal and working life.
What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?
I have learned to organise my time more effectively which has enabled me to hand in my assignments in a timely manner.
What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?
My intentions in the future are to progress my career particularly within a more senior management level. I believe all aspects of my course, particularly the change management subject, will be vital in going forward.
Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?
I currently run projects where I work and have found the education received to enhance my ability to effectively manage and implement them.
If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?
Don't underestimate the standards of education when comparing other Universities. Also consider the city and all it has to offer.
How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?
I believe my personality is more refined, I have a stronger writing ability and a clearer outlook towards life and my goals.

Educational, Motivating, Emotional!
Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
YES, without hesitation!
