Social Sciences

Why study a Social Sciences Masters at Northumbria?

In a world that’s facing a complex web of problems, are you someone who’s dedicated to working out how we can resolve them? Our Department of Social Sciences is a community that equips you to make a positive social change, become a critical thinker, a problem solver, and to challenge what you think, see and hear.

Our academics are researching in partnership with community organisations, voluntary sector bodies and people who are changing the society in which we work. Their research feeds into their teaching, allowing you to focus on developing the skills, tools, techniques, and knowledge to embark upon a career that makes a difference.

Social Science research fits within our multidisciplinary Centre for Environmental and Global Justice theme, giving you the opportunity to work with us in our focus on justice for people, the planet, and agendas for development that take account of current and future generations.
