My career hasn't always been smooth sailing, before I studied this course, I was working within the field of social media marketing. Right after my national service, I had some time to decide what I needed to supplement and support my business, therefore I decided to pursue this course to alleviate my understanding and competency within the current business landscape.

I am currently pursuing my independent business, managing several brands, service and products. My clients are within the photography industry which include the likes of Canon and Fujifilm. As a business owner, I have the flexibility and skill set to approach clients with confidence to pitch business ideas and craft unique proposals to help them solve issues.

What was it about Northumbria that made you decide to study here?

I love, for a fact, that Northumbria University has been actively pursuing for excellence and the testimonials and feedback I've been hearing.

What was it like studying at Northumbria?

The communication between my lecturers and professors were always helpful. I enjoyed asking questions and getting feedback that were very helpful and insightful, this proved to be useful when I started dealing with clients in the marketplace. Constructive feedback was key to the improvement of my learning and kept me interested to pursue further for more knowledge within each module.

How connected was your course with industry?

The course was a supplementary aspect, as a marketeer in the media industry, I was able to conduct business on a more in-depth level and was also able to scale up my pitch with higher latitude of competency.

What was the best thing about your course?

The best thing I learnt in this course was being able to understand how business people think and their thought processes behind their decision making. Being able to conduct myself professionally was evident to what I picked up in the course.

How did studying at Northumbria help you achieve your career goals/ give your career an edge?

Because I have recently graduated, this knowledge has had an impact on the way I look at my career. I started up my business right after I finished my degree as I wanted to be able to make more key decisions and actively pursue my interest in a more purposeful and focused manner.

Which skills/knowledge did you learn on your course that you use most now throughout your career?

The most important skill would be to listen to the feedback form your lecturers.

What did you enjoy most about your time at Northumbria University?

The time I shared with my lectures and classmates.

What advice would you give somebody who is considering studying at Northumbria?

Go in with a strong purpose and focus, discipline and consistency is key to achieving your goals. But try to have fun while going through the process.

How would you describe your time at Northumbria in three words?

Fun, purposeful and uplifting.
