Chris Parker

Lecturer

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

I am a registered adult nurse and hold the District Nursing Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) with community nurse prescribing (V100). Prior to my role at Northumbria University I worked in a number of nursing roles including acute surgery, primary and community care. My main expertise is in District Nursing which involves the holistic generalist care of people, carers and families in a range of community settings.

As an early career researcher I am undertaking my PhD at Northumbria, a mixed methods study focusing on the lived experience of being homebound, how this is interpreted by community health services and the resulting impacts on care provision.

I am the pathway lead for the District Nursing SPQ, working with colleagues across our suite of Community Specialist Practitioner pathways. I also teach and support learners on pre-registration nursing programmes and the Health and Social Care CPD framework.
