Award Verifications

Third party enquirers such as employers, agencies and embassies must verify attendance and awards from Northumbria University with Prospects Hedd. A Hedd verification confirms the candidate's name, qualification type, course name, year of award, classification obtained and dates of attendance.

Please visit www.hedd.ac.uk to register.  There is a charge of £14 for each enquiry and you must provide the written consent of the individual.

Select ‘Northumbria University ’ from the list of UK higher education institutions and choose the option to 'verify a degree award'. You will also be required to upload a hand signed consent form. Please ensure you adhere to the specific consent requirements before submitting your request as this will result in a delay to your request being actioned. If you require a consent form template please contact heddhelp@prospects.ac.uk

Submitting an enquiry

You will need the individual’s name, date of birth, course and qualification. For graduates you'll also need their year of graduation and degree result. Dates of attendance will be given alongside the verification response.

To ensure your verification is submitted correctly, and to receive a quick response, we recommend you input the data as per the degree certificate or ask individuals to give you their data as they believe it is recorded in the student records system or at the time of study. If the information submitted is an exact match to the information held within the student record, your request will be verified more quickly. Your enquiry will be processed within our turnaround time of 10 working days.

Student Enquiries for Award Verifications

If you are a past student and you need your award verifying, we can provide you with a Letter of Confirmation free of charge. To request a Letter of Confirmation, please email rg.certificates@northumbria.ac.uk.

If you are a recent graduate and studied in Newcastle, Amsterdam or London, you have access to your Higher Education Achievement Record provided via Gradintelligence.  You can share this formally with a third party so you can give access to an employer or other HE institution to verify your award.  However, if a third party wants to verify your award with the University directly, then they would need to register with HEDD and make a formal request, attaching your consent for us to release this information to them.
