Location: Reds
Time: 7:30pm
Ideal for: music lovers, groups, couples
My rating: 6/10

Although a variety of songs and music styles were on the cards, the atmosphere was really quite chilled at Reds which I liked. The night featured a tribute to the late David Bowie which sounded awesome and unique tracks from current students including the use of trumpets and violins. Definitely not what I was expecting.

The mic was open to anyone willing to give it a go and I was surprised at how good the music actually was. I clearly had no idea what the evening would be like, however, I was pleasantly surprised with what I listened to.

The event on the whole was a bit quiet in terms of attendees, but I think this might have had something to do with the fact that 'The Big Quiz' was being held at the same time down in Habita.

Having said that, everyone was there to spend time with friends and enjoy live music in good company. There were even a couple of people up dancing!

I think the open mic night was pretty good and I would recommend it especially if you're into discovering new music. It's a great place to go in a group or as a couple but maybe not something you go to alone unless it's really up your street. Let me know what you thought!
