Do you like painting your face and body? Don’t mind getting all soaked? You want to have a fun night out and dance to good music? Then the UV Party hosted by Northumbria’s Student’s Union is definitely an event not to miss out next semester!

Luckily me and my friends were within the first 500 to post our names on the facebook page of the event which saved us to pay for entry. Also if you bought a wristband for Fresher’s week entry was free. But even if you didn’t it was only £3. Drink offers were quite cheap as well; for example you could get Foster’s and Strongbow for only £1.75 a pint, jager bombs for £2.50 and selected shots for a single quid.

The huge hall of SU’s Domain was all decorated with white sheets matching the white T-shirts the majority of the crowd was wearing, thus enhancing the effects of the flickering black light. Make sure you’re not wearing your dressiest white Ralph Lauren blouse though as the odds of being showered with a bucket full of water mixed with neon colour are rather high. Also, if you hadn’t already done it on your own, you could get your face (or other parts of your body if you wish) painted with UV colour at the entrance.

I can only speak for myself but I liked the music which was a mix of the most recent charts combined with British evergreens towards the end. The highlight of the night was definitely the laser and pyro show performed by a massive … I don’t know what it was actually but it looked like a transformer! In a nutshell a decent night out for students on a budget!
