The Research Excellence Framework 2014 (REF2014) results show strong success for Architecture and Built Environment, with a 42% increase in staff submitted. These results place us in the top 25 for research power in the United Kingdom.

This is a result of our excellent publications, of which more than 50% are ranked world-leading or internationally excellent.
This research area covers the disciplines of Architecture, Building Services, Construction, Property and Surveying. Some of our most innovative work is represented by four key groups: Building Information Management, Sustainable Energy Systems, Urban Regeneration & Architectural Design and Virtual Reality & Visualisation. In addition, a rapidly developing group is Construction Technology. Researchers work collaboratively with other disciplines, such as business, cognitive science, economics, engineering, informatics, law, physics and sociology.
