Urban Regeneration & Architectural Design

Meet our staffThis group carries out research into areas including architecture, regeneration and urban design.  Researchers focus on architectural design quality, which includes innovation in the design process and the evaluation of design quality, urban design with an emphasis on place-making, especially the design of public spaces, and the changing nature of architectural education.  Urban regeneration researchers offer impartial advice and support to place-based communities, social enterprises and the voluntary sector, business bodies and public sector organisations.

Recent projects have been supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), the Council of Europe and by public and private collaborators. Work has been based within the UK and internationally, including extensive studies in South East Europe, West Africa and the Middle East.
