During this course your on-campus lectures, workshops and seminars will all be timetabled on a Monday and Tuesday. For a masters programme like this we expect a commitment of around 35 hours per week - how you do your self-directed study is completely up to you. We want you to be able to fit your studies in with your life, whether that be at our City Campus Library, the University Library Digital Commons, open 24/7 during term time, or at home with access to e-books and journals - make it work for you.

You will be encouraged to reflect on your academic and professional experiences to identify strengths, weaknesses and set personal goals.
Our Student Support services complement those provided by the academic faculty. We have a cohort of specialist advisors on hand to offer support to meet varying needs and circumstances. Our services include support around mental health, finance, funding, welfare, disability and faith.

There will be an emphasis on developing your advanced research skills and critical understanding of working within the international sport sector. You will be encouraged to use statistics and research findings to form evidence-based judgements and opinions of topical issues. Engagement with industry professionals will further enhance your research-based learning.
Within the Research Methods Module, you will have the opportunity to use and reflect upon your existing research experience, as well as develop new research knowledge and skills. This acts as an introduction to your independent study in your final semester - the SER PG Project. The project enables you to explore a research topic of your choice. You are encouraged to think about your employment aspirations as well as sporting interests when choosing a topic.
Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to meet and learn from sport managers and employers, both in-class and at extra-curricular events. You will also be encouraged and supported to find vocational opportunities to experience the sport industry first-hand, for example volunteering at sport events, or possibly even undertaking an internship. Such experiences will enhance your employment prospects.
The final Research Project offers you the opportunity of developing enterprise and entrepreneurialism further through your choice of sport, organisation, topic, or indeed product.
We believe that our strategy of promoting employability, enterprise, and entrepreneurship throughout the programme is successful, with our students achieving high levels of employment, in a wide range of graduate-level sport-related (and non-sports-related) jobs around the world.
