UCAS Clearing Advice for Parents and Guardians

Help your child prepare for UCAS Clearing.

If your child meets the grades for their firm choice, congratulations! Their place will be automatically confirmed. If they miss the grades, they might still be accepted by their insurance choice. Check UCAS Hub for their application status and key deadlines.

If students don’t get the grades expected, they can still find a place through UCAS Clearing. Many students join Northumbria University this way.

Our experienced staff can support students through Clearing via our hotline at 0800 085 1085. For more tips and support, visit our ‘What is Clearing’ page or browse our Frequently Asked Questions.

*Please note: we use the terms ‘parent’ and ‘child' throughout the website for simplicity, but we appreciate that many of you may be carers, legal guardians or step-parents. This information is aimed at anyone who fulfils a parenting role for a young person in the UK who is considering a university education.
